Modern network devices nowadays comes with a built-in web GUI (Graphical User Interface) that allows them to be configured. That’s the case for 99% of the IP Phones available on the market.
A SSH Tunnel enables you to securely connect and control devices remotely by browsing their GUI, quite similar to using a VPN.
To be able to remotely control IP Phones through their web GUI you must first have to have SSH access to the SBC where phones are registered.
Make sure the following requirements are fulfilled:
- You must have SSH access to the SBC where phones are connected
- Add a SOCKS proxy to the SSH session
- Configure your browser to use SOCKS Proxy
- Web server is enabled on the remote phone
